Khaptad Trek explores this very area which is popularly recognized as the paradise of far west Nepal.  Khaptad Trek exhibits the breathtaking variety of landscapes, biodiversity, and alluring views of Mount Api (7132m) and Saipal (7031m). The trek stretches along the trails through the Khaptad National Park rich in flora and fauna including musk deer, leopard, 260 bird species, and several types of herbs and plants. The wilderness on the Khaptad Trek makes it one of the perfect options for adventure-seeking tourists.

The incredible Khaptad Trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadi. Next up, a drive through the far west hills and mountains takes us to the remote village of Bajhang. The remoteness and wilderness of the far western kingdom of Bajhang welcome the visitors with its old villages and ancient culture. A day walk to Khaptad campsite and exploration of Khaptad area begins from there. The Khaptad area is also famous for its pilgrimage site of Khaptad Baba Ashram where Late Swami Sachchidananda resided and meditated. Many Hindu believers visit this place on the full moon day of July and August for the worship of almighty Lord Shiva. One can recognize Khaptad as grassland of natural beauty and spiritual asset. The return route comes through Silgadhi via Bichpani and Jhingrana villages. These villages are dominated by individuals of Khas and Thakuri ethnicities. You can also enjoy their culture and lifestyle on the return trip to Dhangadi. The trip ends in Kathmandu with sightseeing of the city. Itineraries

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, company personnel will welcome you. He/she will then take you to the hotel in a company vehicle. After checking in at the hotel, you can freshen up and wander around the city streets or take some rest. You can also choose to prepare for the trek.

This morning, we fly to Dhangadi Airport after having breakfast in the hotel. The flight takes us to Dhangadi in around an hour. After reaching the far western land of Dhangadi, we check in at the hotel and explore around. We can visit Jokhar Lake, Mohana Bird watch center, and wander around Tharu villages and culture.

Today, we get on a vehicle and drive through the hillsides of far western Nepal. The remoteness of Bajhang treasures the secret beauty of amazing villages and old houses. We drive to a small village of Tamail and rest for the day. The village is famous for local milk and yogurt and we can quench our thirst with the hospitable environment of the village. 

After breakfast, we start our trek from Bajhang to grasslands of Khaptad. We pass through some remote villages and step into the Khaptad National park. The long trek rewards with amazing views of green meadows and pasture lands. We pass through the subtropical forests of rhododendron, oak, fir, and hemlock trees. We can also relish the sights of Saipal, Api, and Malika ranges from here. We rest at the Khaptad campsite for the night.

With the first rays of sun in the magnificent beauty of Khaptad, we visit the Khaptad Ashram. The Khaptad Baba Ashram (hermitage) is a pilgrimage site with meditation areas and lower Tribeni temples. Late Swami Sachchidananda resided in this Ashram and is now the spiritual destination for many internal and external tourists. We explore the Khaptad National park and admire its elegance. We visit the museum, Patan, Khaptad Danda, Khaptad Daha Lake, and tower. We may get lucky with the glance of animals and birds of the region. The sunset view from the tower is magnificent and a feeling to cherish.

Today, we head towards Bichpani camp from Khaptad following a stone-layered trail. We cross the wooden bridges and forests of rhododendron. The walk through the peaceful woods is calm and relaxing. We encounter two paths, one leading to Sahasra Linga temple and the other to our destination Bichpani. The trek is short but the path can be tricky today.

Today, we head towards Bichpani camp from Khaptad following a stone-layered trail. We cross the wooden bridges and forests of rhododendron. The walk through the peaceful woods is calm and relaxing. We encounter two paths, one leading to Sahasra Linga temple and the other to our destination Bichpani. The trek is short but the path can be tricky today.

After breakfast, we start our journey and leave the Khaptad National Park. We descend down for about two hours before reaching Jhingrana. We observe a splendid waterfall on the way and follow a stone trail. After crossing some pine forests, we reach the motorable road of Silgadhi. Silgadhi is a small town and the district headquarters of Doti.

To begin the day, we drive back to Dhangadi early in the morning. The lustrous view of hills and mountains accompany us. The long day drive takes us to Dhangadi in the evening. We then check in to the hotel and rest. We can spend the day in the relaxing environment in Dhangadi with the memories of the trip.

We fly back to Kathmandu from Dhangadi in the morning. Then, we go to the hotel first and relax for a while. We then take a guided city tour of Kathmandu visiting some of the historical and architectural masterpieces. We also visit the world heritage sites of the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath and spend a comfortable day exploring Kathmandu.

The journey marks its end here and we take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport before the scheduled flight time. With the beautiful view of mountains and Kathmandu city from the top, you wave goodbye to Nepal. We wish for adventurous days in your life and hope to join again on your next trip to Nepal.
