Early in the morning, we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2810 m). The flight takes about 30-40 minutes to reach at Lukla. Then, we have to make the final preparations for the trekking.  From Lukla, we have to trek downhill to Phakding (2610m). In the evening, if we have time, we will explore around the Buddhist monasteries and monuments. We will stay overnight at lodge at Phakding.

Today is going to be the challenging day for us.  Following the Dudh Koshi river, the trail gently starts to rise though rhododendron and magnolia forests with giant fir trees to the village of Jorsalle. Jorsalle is our Sagarmatha National Park entry point, where we have to show our trekking permits and TIMS. After a brief stop-over for lunch, the climb proceeds towards Namche Bazaar. Passing through the Sagarmatha National Park area, we will reach at Namche Bazaar finally. Namche bazaar is a delightful mountain town and so-called ‘Sherpa Capital’ of Solukhumbu.

Today, we make an early start to walk up to Everest View Hotel to see the wonderful views of Mount Everest, Amadablam, Tabuche, Thamserku, Kusum Khangru and other mountains. After having a cup of tea at Everest View Hotel, we then continue our trek to Khumjung to explore monastery with Yeti scalps. After having lunch at Khumjung, we trek another an hour downhill to reach Kenjuma, where we will stay overnight.

We start our trek in the morning from Kenjuma. Our trail then goes downhill towards Phungi Tanga. After reaching at Phungi Tanga, we have our lunch in the teahouse situated nearby the confluence of two rivers. Then, we climb uphill around 2 hours to finally reach at Tyangboche which is the highest monastery in the world. At Tengboche monastery, you can participate with monks for the prayers and chanting. From Tyangboche, we can have the magnificent views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nupse, Amadablam, Thamseru and Khantega.

Today, from Tyangboche, we stroll back to Namche following the same route we came by. We stay at hotel in Namche tonight.

After breakfast in the early morning, the trail goes down through forest with pine, rhododendron, Jupiter, and some few magnolia and birch trees with a great memory after crossing the highest suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Then, we reach to our final check point at Jorsalle. After an hour and half, we reach at Phakding for our lunch. After 3 hours of trekking we will reach at Lukla. In the evening, you will have the farewell dinner party with Sherpas and Guides.

Today, we will fly to Kathmandu from Lukla. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will have time to shop around or explore Kathmandu Durbar Square in the remaining time. You will enjoy your final farewell dinner in Kathmandu with Guides and Company members.

A Cold Feet representative will accompany you to the airport to catch your returning flight. We hope to see you again soon!

FAQ

There are many trekking routes in the Everest Region. Most of them begin with a short flight from Kathmandu takes you to Lukla. You trek uphill making your way past the Phakding to reach Namche Bazaar. From here, the trekking route depends upon the trek that you choose. The Everest Base Camp follows the route along Tengboche, Pangboche, Pheriche, Thukla, Lobuche, and Gorakshep to reach the Everest Base Camp. A number of treks follow this route either fully or in parts. Everest Panorama Trek, Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek, and EBC Cho La Pass Trek are a few examples. Similarly, another trekking route heads northwest to Thame and Lumde to cross Renjo La Pass (5360m) and reach Gokyo. Thereon, the route continues west and crosses Cho La Pass (5420m) to reach Lobuche and rejoins the EBC Trail. Another trekking route begins at Jiri and explores the Rolwaling region to reach Lukla and continue the trek from there. As such, there are many trekking routes in the Everest region.

The question about what the best time to trek Everest Region completely depends upon the experience that you are looking for. However, there are two major seasons for trekking they are Pre-monsoon/Spring (February, March, April) and Post-Monsoon/autumn (Late September, October, November). The temperature is perfectly mild and skies are much clearer giving the best possible view of the mountain ranges around. Also during these seasons the flora and fauna come to life. You get the opportunity to see the exotic wild species like snow leopard and blue sheep and also enjoy the beauty of hills covered with wildflowers. However, at high altitude, the weather always remains unpredictable. So expect the unexpected.

Located in a region susceptible to high altitude, the Everest trekking route is one of the most famous and highest trekking routes in the world. Typically it starts at an elevation of 2,840m in Lukla Airport and reaches the highest point of over 5,545m at Kalapatthar, the entire trek occurs in the two altitude regions: ‘high altitude’ and ‘very high altitude’. Therefore, there is a high chance of suffering from AMS and its better to look out for symptoms. The major symptoms includes nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and restlessness.

Most of the trekking trails are filled with tea houses so, you need not worry much about the internet and charging batteries. These lodges will provide you Wi-Fi services; however, may charge some additional money. The same also applies to charge ports. So, we recommend you buy a local SIM card and personal charging cable with a power bank.

The Everest region is majorly known for being the home to the highest mountain in the world- the Mt. Everest (8848m). Besides this, the region is popular for beautiful panoramic views of different mountain ranges like the Mt Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8485m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Island Peak (6189m). Similarly, the warm hospitality of Sherpa people is also one of the things that makes this region a famous destination amongst travel enthusiasts. Other than this, the region is known for the wide variety of unique vegetation and exotic species of wild animals.

Lukla Airport is often labeled as the most dangerous airport in the world due to its location and altitude. As such, the weather at this altitude can change within a few hours which leads to flight cancellation and delays. However, in the months between October and May, the flights quite are regular. In case of flight cancellation or even delay, you might have to stay an additional day at the Lukla. Therefore, we highly recommend all visitors to allocate a few contingency days during the trip to Nepal.

Everest region is located at extreme altitude so, preparing yourself for the trek is highly important. The trek requires a certain level of physical fitness. Also preparing yourself for the trip in order to tackle the issues of altitude sickness is also a must. For this, you can take special training classes or research about the dos and don’ts of trekking. Other than this, adding up cardio and strength training in your routine is a must before the trip.
