The Chandragiri Champadevi Hike begins from Kathmandu with a drive to the Chandragiri Cable Car station at Thankot. The vehicle goes through Kalanki crossing the ring road and drops you at the gate of the Chandragiri Cable Car.  After a short queue to get the cable car tickets, you take on the pleasant ride of 9 minutes and reach the top of the Chandragiri Hill. The 9-minute ride is rewarded with a thrilling cable car experience and a vista of green hills and Kathmandu valley. Upon reaching the Chandragiri Height, you do some light exploration and enjoy the picturesque views of the surroundings. Thereafter, the hike begins through the pine trees. The stone trails are filled with plenty of wildlife and gorgeous surroundings. After 4-5 hours walk in the forests with fresh air and sweet melodies, you reach the top of Champadevi. Here, you can visit the Champadevi Temple and learn about the history and significance of the temple. The hill-top also provides enchanting views of the Himalayas in Jugal, Langtang, and Gaurishankar ranges. From there, you descend down to Pushpa Lal Park with great views of the mountains and Kirtipur city. A short drive from the park concludes back at Kathmandu. The hike is mesmerizing in every season, while autumn and spring seasons are the best ones.

Itineraries

In the morning, you drive from your hotel to Thankot. You will reach the Chandragiri Cable Car station within an hour. The 9-minute cable car ride takes you to the Chandragiri height. You can spend some time there and capture photos of the surrounding landscapes.

Hiking from Chandragiri Height to Champadevi | 4-5 hrs.

The forests trail from Chandragiri height to Champadevi is filled with adventure and fun. You walk the stone stairs and continue the ascending and descending through the hills covered with pine trees. The hike finally stops as you reach the Champadevi Temple where you can explore one of the most prominent Hindu temples around Kathmandu Valley. The Champadevi hill stands bold and offers a great view of the Himalayas from the top. In addition, the view of Kathmandu and Kirtipur adds charisma to the glorious hike.

Descent from Champadevi to Pushpa Lal Park | Drive back to Kathmandu via Kirtipur

After exploring around the temple, you descend through the pine forests for about an hour or two. The cold air and the melody of birds refresh the environment. The path is stone layered and some are through the dusty mud. After reaching the paved area of Pushpa Lal Park, you take the vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu. The road goes through the traditional houses of Kirtipur and back to the hotel where you started.
