The respective treks to the base camps of these mountains also offer\nthe adventure of the highest standard. Thus, it is easy to have a dilemma to\nchoose your ideal trek. While both the EBC and ABC treks have attractions of\ntheir own, each trek also displays its uniqueness. The nearest gateway to the Annapurna region is Pokhara which is yet\nanother famous tourist hub in the country. The fastest way is through\nairplanes, which take about 15-20 minutes or via highway which takes around 6-7\nhours. Tourists can enjoy the aerial views of Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys\nwhen they travel via air. In recent years,\nother routes like Gokyo Valley Trek and Everest Three Passes Trek have started\nto gain recognition as well. While the Gokyo Valley Trek is easier than the EBC\ntrek, the Three Passes Trek requires a lot more physical fitness than normal\ntreks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coldfeetadventure.com\/public\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC00900-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1366\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nDue to its easy accessibility,\nthere are various trekking routes within the Annapurna region. From Annapurna\nCircuit trek to Annapurna Base Camp trek, there are various routes suitable for\neveryone. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is certainly the must-do trek in this\nregion. As such, the trek takes around 14 days to complete. Similarly, there\nare short treks as well which can be enjoyed with families like, Mardi Himal\nTrek, Khopra Danda Trek, Mohare Danda Trek and Ghorepani Poonhill Trek. These\nshort treks can be completed within a week. The villages filled with Gurung communities have a rustic\narchitecture and traditional background. In the lower altitude, the\nagricultural fields and lush vegetation add color to this region. In the higher\nareas like Mustang and Manang, the arid environment has created a different\nbeauty along with the Tibetan influenced designs and lifestyle have added\ncharm. Temples like Muktinath, Tal Barahi, and Bindhyabasini along with\nmonasteries like Boozo Gompa and Braga Gompa offer insight into the cultural\naspect of the region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ethnicity, Culture, and Food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coldfeetadventure.com\/public\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/batai-bato-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1370\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nSherpas are the dominant community in the Everest region and thus their culture\nhas a huge impact across the trails on the Everest Base Camp Trek. The Sherpas\nfollow Buddhism and thus the trails on the treks are filled with monasteries,\nchortens, and prayer flags. They are known for their endearing hospitality and\nhumble nature. Likewise, the Sherpa-run teahouses are famous throughout the\nregion and offer food and accommodation to the travelers. The staple food of\nSherpas mostly consists of potatoes, wheat, barley, and meat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coldfeetadventure.com\/public\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC00970-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1368\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nthe Annapurna Base Camp Trek, ethnicity is diverse and the majority of the\npopulation are Gurung, Magar, and Thakali. They coexist in harmony and are\nspread throughout the region. These communities have ancient traditions and\nrituals, which differ from other ethnic communities in the country.\nAdditionally, their hospitality and cheerful nature have also attracted many\ntourists to stay at their homestays. The staple dishes of these communities are\nDal Bhat, buckwheat flatbread (roti), potatoes, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Costs and Permits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nthe Everest region, tourists need to pay for three permits. They are Sagarmatha\nNational Park permits (approx. US$ 34; SAARC nationals US$ 14), Khumbu Pasang\nLhamu Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu (approx. US$ 20) and Trekkers\nInformation Management System (TIMS) (approx. US$ 20). The total cost of food and\nlodging depends on how long the trip is but in general, it can range between\nUS$ 1,500- 2,500 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nthe Annapurna region tourists need to pay for TIMS (approx. US$ 20; SAARC\nnationals US$ 6) and Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit (approx. US$ 30;\nSAARC nationals US$ 3). Depending on the length of the trip, the food and\nlodging costs vary. On average, it can range from US$ 750 to US$ 1,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even\nthough these two regions are located at different places and filled with unique\ncharms, they are the best locations to trek in Nepal. Both these Himalayan\nregions offer lifetime experiences and adventures exclusive to the regions\nonly.
