Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is also known as the small Annapurna Circuit Trekking, and this is a short trek close to Pokhara which will give you a great opportunity to see the panoramic views of Himalayas. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek will be a perfect trek starter for those who are not sure of their walking ability or for those who wish to spend the time at low altitude. Of course, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking will be very easy and enjoyable for you because it neither requires any special training nor any previous trekking experience. This Trek will let you enjoy the mind-blowing scenary of some of the highest Himalayan peaks. Ghorepani Poonhill offers many wonderful mountains including Annapurna, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail and other numerous peaks.
 It is rich in cultures, flora and fauna and natural beauty. During this trek, you will be walking through the good trails through picturesque Gurung villages and their really wonderful culture. Few of the beautiful highlights of this trek are the dawn views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Annapurna South, and Fishtail from Poon Hill. Very close to the Chhomrong, you will enjoy observing the Annapurna South, Fishtail, and Himchuli. Your mind-blowing trek will come to an end when you reach at the beautiful city Pokhara.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representatives will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.
 
Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu valley and preparation for the trip
Today, you will be enjoy visiting the World heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square or Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath (temple of Shiva), Bauddhanath or Swayambhunath.
 
Day 03: Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Duration: Choice of tourist bus (approximately 6 hrs with breaks), private car (approximately 4 hrs with breaks) or by flight (30 mins). 
Arrive Pokhara lakeside and transfer to hotel. Depending on arrival time, may be opportunity to explore surrounding areas. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 04:  Trek from Pokhara – Nayapul - Birethati – Ulleri (2070m)
Leave Pokhara early morning and travel by car to the trek starting point in Nayapul.Walk along the Modi river valley where waterfalls and inviting plunge pools await. Ascend the steep staircase to Magar village of Ulleri from where there are breathtaking views of the valley below and the peaks of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
 
Day 05: Trek from Ulleri – Ghorepani (2850m)
The day starts with a gentle climb before reaching steeper climbs of a river walk through oak and rhododendron forests en route to Ghorepani.
 
Day 06: Trek from Ghorepani - Poon Hill(3210m) – Tadapani (2660m)
It's an early morning start and one hour ascent to experience sun rise at Poon Hill and the sensational views of the Himalayas. On a clear day the mountains of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna I (8019m), and Manalsu (8156m) are visible together with the 6,000 meter deep Kali Gandaki gorge. The final destination is Tadapani for an overnight stay.
 
Day 07: Trek from Tadapani - Ghandruk (1940m)
The trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk is a fairly easy descent through dense forests and takes about three hours. Ghandruk is a large Gurung village and has its own museum and handicraft centre again popular with visitors. Once here, there are good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna Annapurna III and Machhapuchhare.
 
Day 08: Trek from Ghandruk – Pothana (1990m)
The trek from Ghandruk to Pothana is about six hours and begins with a steep descent following a stone staircase to Kimbu which means Bee Hive. Kimbu is located at an elevation of 1200m on the bank of the Modi Khola. Finally, the trail then descends to reach Pothana village.
 
Day 09: Trek from Pothana – Pokhara
2 and half hrs walk down to Phedi and 30 min drive back to pokhara .
A 2 and a half hour short trek down to Phedi with good views of the mountains before taking a private car back to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel
 
Day 10: Sight-seeing tour in Pokhara
Early morning sunrise from Sarangkot and visit most of the popular tourist attractions including Devi's Falls, World Peace Stupa, and boating at Lake Phewa.
 
Day 11: Return to Kathmandu
After breakfast, early morning start to return to Kathmandu by tourist bus which takes approximately 6 hours. Drop off at hotel, rest of day to enjoy at leisure. In the evening, farewell meal and culture show.
 
Day 12: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Transfer to airport or onward journey as required.

I am now in my final year at university in England but a few summers back I was lucky enough to be part of a trek adventure in the Everest region organised by ColdFeet. Gopi, who was in charge, lead 50 Wimbledon Explorer Scouts for roughly ten days. The trip was incredibly well organised and we all felt very safe under his and his support staffs' guidance.
